After a short break, we would like to announce that the PWYP Indonesia Monthly Newsletter is back in 2023!

As one of our valued Partners and Network, we are happy to share the latest news and updates from our organization, including advocacy efforts, campaigns, activities, products, and much more. We aim to keep you informed and engaged with our mission to promote transparency and accountability in the energy and natural resource issues.

This inaugural edition in 2023 contains various activities and involvement of PWYP Indonesia in several momentum and issues such as Gender Mainstreaming through the implementation of EITI and providing input to Parliament regarding the Implementation of the Ombudsman Law. PWYP Indonesia also carries out capacity building for coalition members developing business units towards organizational and economic independence. PWYP Indonesia has also developed modules and infographics such as the Mining Sector Complaint and Community Participation Module and Video on the Urgency of Controlling Coal Production and many other exciting things.

We beleive through our collaboration, we could positively impact and achieve more significant in energy and natural resources governance improvements.

Training: Strengthening the Role of CSOs in Promoting Just Energy Transition through EITI Implementation in Central Sulawesi

Palu – Publish What You Pay (PWYP) Indonesia, together with IDEA Yogyakarta, conducted a training “Strengthening the Role of Civil Society Organization (CSO) in Encouraging Just Energy Transition through EITI Implementation in Central Sulawesi” on January 16, 2022. The training aims to Strengthen the knowledge, capacity, and awareness of CSOs, especially in Central Sulawesi, on the impact of energy transition and extractive industries and the importance of just energy transition at the regional level. Dissemination and follow-up of the study “Community Involvement in Just Energy Transition through EITI Implementation in North Morowali District.” Strengthening CSO networking strategies to formulate joint solutions in improving natural resource governance and realizing equitable energy transition, especially for the community, and Formulating advocacy strategies for EITI institutionalization in the region.

This discussion was organized by Women in Mining & Energy (WIME) on January 27, 2023, in South Jakarta. The forum aims to emphasize understanding gender issues from the perspective of regulators, business actors, and civil society by providing an overview of gender issues in the extractive sector as a vital reference for providing policy recommendations, discussing possible affirmative action plans for the private sector and government agencies in the context of gender mainstreaming.

This discussion is a series of activities to collect data and information to monitor the implementation of Law No. 37/2008 on the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia (Ombudsman Law), regarding the norms and implementation of the Ombudsman Law.

Complain Mechanism and Public Participation in the Mining Sector

The Mining Sector Social Accountability Project aims to contribute to improving mining sector management and governance at the local level through collaborative social accountability mechanisms.
